Poonam Azad is the wife of a former Indian cricketer and politician Kirti Azad.
Poonam joined Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Sunday 13 November 2016 after months of speculation.[1] She had contested against then Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the 2003 assembly polls and was serving as a spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi unit before joining AAP. Now[when?] she has joined Indian National Congress.[citation needed]

Poonam is married to former cricketer Kirti Azad and has two sons.[2]
