Post Theatre Collective (PTC) is a platform based in Helsinki, Finland, developing collective productions and collaborations involving various art practices in relation to performing arts. The non-profit association was founded in 2006 by David Kozma, Romulus Chiciuc and Salla Kozma under the name European Theatre Collective, which has further evolved under the name Post Theatre Collective.[1]

Activities[edit]

Post Theatre Collective produces multidisciplinary performances, events, installations and organises workshops and a festival and has been focusing in its various theatre play productions on the minorities living in Finland.

In parallel, Post Theatre Collective has been hosting since 2014 the R.E.A.D. festival initiated by David Kozma, happening in Helsinki every year since then. The festival is centred around reading drama performances of plays that have not been performed in Finland before.[2]

Post Theatre Collective hosts the project New Theatre Helsinki (2020 - 2023) in collaboration with Teatteri Metamorfoosi. New Theatre Helsinki is a platform for communities that are not represented on the Finnish institutional stage. It aims at promoting cultural and linguistic diversity and inclusiveness in the field of performing arts in Finland and further. In 2023, New Theatre Helsinki pop up festivals took place at Svenska Teatern, Oulun Taidemuseo and Oulu Teatteri.[3][4][5]

By developing initiatives in relation to performing arts beyond theatre, Post Theatre Collective has also produced interactive installations such as In Between - Substantive (2018)[6] and Brutally Soft (2022)[7], the latest being part of the XXVI exhibition of Mänttä Art Weeks[8][9]

Moreover, Post Theatre Collective co-produced the Estonian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale. The exhibition called Orchidelirium: An Appetite for Abundance featured the Post Theatre Collective's member Bita Razavi and the Estonian artist Kristina Norman, in collaboration with the other members of Post theatre Collective: Pietu Pietiäinen as light designer, David Kozma and Saku Kämäräinen.[10][11]

The collective also started the podcast Middle Eastern Bloc in 2020, in response to the lock-down and isolations during the COVID-19 restrictions. A second season of the podcast was released in 2021. A third season will be released in Autumn 2023.[12][13][14][not in citation given]
