Postgraduate-only institutions or graduate-only universities are graduate schools that only offer postgraduate education such as master's degrees or PhDs and no bachelor's degree or undergraduate education. In 2009–10, there were 315 graduate-only institutions in the United States with over 170,000 in enrollment. Of these, 85% were private universities (not-for-profit institutions), 10% were private for-profit institutions, and 5% were public universities. Types of institutions included theological seminaries preparing students to work as Christian ministers (35%); schools providing graduate education in psychology, medicine, dentistry, and other areas for health care providers (27%); and law schools (10%).[1]
