Dr. Dan Young - Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington DE

W. Daniel Young (born October 29, 1975) is the Director of the Doctor of Business Administration Program at Goldey-Beacom College and the curator of TEDxGoldeyBeacomCollege. Dan received his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Marketing from the University of Delaware’s Honors Program and his Ph.D. in Marketing from Temple University. He has taught at Temple University, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, the University of Delaware and Wilmington University. Young has served on the Boards of many local organizations and currently serves on the board of the ACLU.  

Young is a member of the Wilmington Rotary Club. Young has founded several companies, including the National Tailgating Association, NTA Motorcoach, and Young Consulting Group.[1]

Dr. Dan Young received his Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Business Administration with Concentration in Marketing, from the University of Delaware, in 1997.

He received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing and Finance, from the University of Delaware in 1999.  

Young received his Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Marketing, from Temple University, in 2012. Dissertation title: “An Examination of Digital Nativity, Generation, and Gender in Online Giving”.

Career  [edit]

Young started his career as an Employee Advisor, and later as District Manager for American Express Financial Advisors, in Wilmington, Delaware.  

In 2003. He became an Independent Contractor with Ameriprise Financial Advisors, Wilmington, DE. Young worked as a financial advisor while teaching at Temple University (2006-2008).  

He taught and helped develop marketing courses at the University of Delaware from 2007 until 2018. At this University, Dr. Young created and executed the first study abroad program for the Horn Program in Entrepreneurship in the Lerner College.  

He taught as an Adjunct Professor at West Chester University (2010-2011).  

In 2011, Young founded the Young Consulting Group, a consulting company.

Young taught at Wilmington University (2012-2018), where he helped develop Wilmington University’s first online Doctor of Administration program course (Advanced Marketing Management). At Wilmington university, Young Created TEDxDover, TEDxDoverSalon, TEDxWilmingtonUniversity and TEDxWilmington University Salon. In 2018. Young created Goldey-Beacom College’s first doctoral program. Currently, Dan Young is the Director of the Doctor of Business Administration Program at Goldey-Beacom College.  

Young was recognized as one of Delaware's Top 40 under 40, by Chains Inc., a nonprofit operating out of Delaware, in 2015 and 2014.[2]

Young was recognized as one of the Top 10 Movers & Shakers in Delaware by Northern Delaware Happenings magazine, in 2014.[3]
