Pouchain is an Italian sport apparel company originally founded in Borgorose (Ri), Italy in 1978.[1]
Pouchain was founded by Maurizio Pouchain in Borgorose, Rieti, Italy in 1978. It reached the peak of its success in the late 1970s, and early 1980s through a series of football team sponsorships. Some of the teams most notably sponsored by Pouchain were AS Roma, Lazio, Palermo, Udinese, Cesena, Bari and Ascoli.
As the first company to realize the power of merchandising in football, Pouchain was responsible for a turning point in the world of Italian sports merchandising. Pouchain introduced unique designs and simple and recognizable club logos that could be affixed to the shirts. Pouchain’s vision became reality when he began working with Pierro Gratton, a famous Italian designer. Gratton designed the stylised clubsymbols, including AS Roma's famous Lupetto crest.[2]
