As one of the leading members of the Kerala Socialist Party, PP Varuthukutty was instrumental in its establishment, often offering his house as a meeting place for the newly formed and bootstrapped party. An active member of the party who relentlessly worked for the party, he skirted arrests many times during the times when communist leaders were being hunted down.
