Prajakta Kulkarni, also known as Prajakta Dighe is an Indian actress, who has acted in various Marathi and Hindi movies and also TV shows/serials. Prajakta has also acted in numerous regional language drama, movie and Soap opera over 30 years. She is best known for her roles in movies like Dhadakebaj and Damini.

Personal life[edit]

Prajakta was born in Dadar, Mumbai. She completed her schooling from Balmohan Vidyamandir. She is married to Rajan Dighe who is a Interior designer. They have one son Jay Dighe who is a Bollywood Photographer and choreographer.

Career[edit]

Prajakta Kulkarni became a household name after she tasted success with her work in movies such as Dhadakebaj and Char Divas sasuche [1] which firmed her position in Marathi films and continued to work with actors such as Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde.

She made her debut in the movie Damini and Aag in the 90s and later continued her stint in Hindi Cinema by appearing in De Dana Dan alongside Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. She was one of the main characters in the movie Damini and the movie won numerous awards like Filmfare awards for Best director and best story and best supporting Actor.

She has been directed by Sham Benegal and appeared in several of his documentaries. Her notable work includes some of the most coming of age serials such as Imtihan, Saat Phere, Rathachakra among others.

She has acted in many regional cinema including Odissi, Rajasthani and Nepali movies has portrayed memorable characters.She also has had a successful run in regional cinema having worked in Odissi, Rajasthani and Nepali movies and has endorsed brands such as Bajaj Club, Ariel Soap, Vaman Hari Pethe and others.
