Notable work

Prateek Pachauri (also credited as Prateek Pachori) is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi-language films and streaming series. He made his feature-film debut with a supporting part in the Netflix drama Soni (2018) and played the lead role in the independent crime film Chousar Firangi (2019).[1]

Pachauri gained wider recognition on streaming platforms with recurring roles in Amazon Prime Video’s Panchayat (2020–22) and Dice Media’s Operation MBBS (2020–21).[2][3] His supporting performance in Nitesh Tiwari’s film Bawaal (2023) was singled out by critics,[4][5] and he achieved a breakthrough as police informer **Bittu Rahman** in Paatal Lok Season 2 (2025).[6]

Early life and education

Pachauri was born and raised in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where he completed an engineering degree before pursuing the performing arts.[7] Inspired by actor Shah Rukh Khan, he trained at the Madhya Pradesh School of Drama in Bhopal and acted with local theatre groups, receiving a state grant to stage plays in Jabalpur.[8]

Career

Early screen roles (2018–2019)

Pachauri’s screen debut came with a small role in the Venice-premiered police drama Soni (2018).[9] A year later he starred as the protagonist Titu in Chousar Firangi, an independently produced crime drama shot in his hometown and released locally.[10] *Rajasthan Patrika* praised the cast of local actors for “bringing authenticity to the narrative”.[11]

Streaming breakthrough (2020–2022)

The rise of OTT platforms proved pivotal. Pachauri appeared in Amazon Prime Video’s dark comedy Afsos (2020).[12] He then portrayed prank-loving medical student Ketan “KC” Chorai in Dice Media’s campus series Operation MBBS (2020–21),[13] and played small-town goon Babloo in TVF’s hit comedy Panchayat, earning recognition despite limited screen time.[14] In 2021 he appeared in Vidya Balan’s wildlife drama Sherni (2021 film) as Babbal,[15] and played an esports athlete in Clutch, touted as India’s first gaming web-series.[16] He was also part of Sony LIV’s medical-exam scam thriller The Whistleblower the same year.[17]

Wider recognition (2023–present)

Pachauri’s supporting turn as Bipin in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal (2023) drew positive notes from Hindi and English reviewers.[18][19] He followed this with roles in Suniel Shetty’s action series Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega (2023)[20] and Netflix’s retro crime comedy Guns & Gulaabs (2023).[21] At the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival he headlined the slice-of-life web-series Hajamat (2023), playing a small-town barber nicknamed “Cutting”.[22]

Paatal Lok Season 2 (2025)

Paatal Lok 2 released on 17 January 2025, with Pachauri cast as Bittu Rahman, a street-smart fixer central to the season’s narrative.[23] Reviewers praised his “raw sauciness” and “earthy realism”,[6] while *Deccan Herald* noted that “every minor character, notably Pachauri’s Bittu, feels lived-in in Sudip Sharma’s world”.[24] The performance led to his first film offer without an audition, for a still-untitled feature by director Richie Mehta.[25]

In 2025 he also appeared as Santosh, the duplicitous boyfriend in Netflix’s women-led crime series Dabba Cartel[26] and signed on for Anurag Kashyap’s forthcoming film Nishanchi.[27]

Acting style and reception

Critics have highlighted Pachauri’s naturalistic approach and regional dialect work. *Rediff* wrote that his portrayal of Bittu “takes your breath away with its lived-in swagger”,[6] while *Film Companion* observed that even in a small role in Bawaal he “anchors scenes with a believable small-town ease”.[28] Hindi outlets such as *Prabhat Khabar* have called him “a face to watch in the OTT space”.[29]
