Prima Hotels is an Israeli hotel chain privately owned by the Moskowitz family. The chain owns 14 hotels in 8 regions across Israel: Tel Aviv, Tiberias, Eilat, the Dead Sea, Netanya, Raanana and Petach Tikva.[1]

History[edit]

The chain's first hotel, the Prima Tel Aviv concept hotel, was established on the ruins of the Astor Hotel, which originally opened in 1962 in Tel Aviv.[2] In 1986, the second hotel was purchased – the Prima Kings Hotel. Subsequently, in 1987, the Almog Yam Hotel in Eilat was purchased and its name was changed to the Carlton Hotel Eilat and it is currently known as Prima Music.

In 1988, Henry Moskowitz and Bernard Schreier joined forces and together purchased the Carlton Hotel Dead Sea, which was later renamed the Oasis Spa Club Dead Sea.

In 1990, upon purchasing the Galil Prima Hotel in Tiberias, the Prima Hotels chain was established.

In 2000, the Mercaz Hotel in Jerusalem was purchased, which is currently known as the Prima Palace; and in 2004, the Prima Royale Hotel in Jerusalem joined the chain.

In 2013, the owners purchased the City Hotel in Tel Aviv; and that same year, the Park Hotel in Jerusalem was also purchased.

In 2015, the chain purchased a building that originally served as the Meuhedet Healthcare Services building at 75 Allenby Street in Tel Aviv, which was converted to a hotel called Hotel 75.

In collaboration with Melisron, owned by Leora Ofer, in 2012, construction of two business hotels began: the Prima Link in Petach Tikva and the Prima Millennium in Raanana. The Prima Link Hotel in Petach Tikva was opened in 2016 and the Prima Millennium Hotel in Raanana was opened in 2017. That same year, the Jacob Samuel boutique hotel located on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv was purchased for NIS 45 million.

In 2021, the chain purchased the David Tower Hotel in Netanya, which was previously managed by the global Accor Chain.

The company's Activity[edit]

As of 2022, the hotel chain owns some 1,756 hotel rooms in 14 hotels nationwide and employs 750 employees. The chain is planning a number of future projects, including the construction of a suite hotel on the Ashdod coastline, in collaboration with the Gabbai Brothers Real Estate Company, as well as the construction of a boutique hotel located at 81 Allenby Street in Tel Aviv.
