Priti Kaur is an Indian vocalist. She is a versatile singer who performs in Hindustani classical music, Bollywood music, Ghazals, Raga based Gurbani Kirtan, Bhajans and Sufiana Kalaams.

Priti is the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Punjabi, a popular singing competition on Alpha TV Punjabi. Her notable participation includes popular television shows on ETV Urdu (Ghazal Sara), NDTV and Sahara TV. She is an approved All India Radio Ghazal artist and has performed in concerts across India and United Kingdom.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Though her paternal roots are in Patiala (Punjab), Priti was born in Jabalpur to a Sikh family. She inherited music from her father and Guru, Surmani (title awarded by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai) Shri Kuljit Singh Sangar, who is a renowned vocalist of Hindustani classical/ Ghazal singer and composer. He is the first alumnus to receive the gold medal in Master of Arts (M.A Music) in 1972 from Indira Kala Sangeet University, Khairagarh. He has performed at a number of main stage functions like "Acharya Brihaspati Sangeet Sammelan", "Sur Shringar Sansad", and "Kala Parishad". He was also honoured with the title "Kal ke kalakar" (Tomorrow's artist) by Ustad Allauddin Khan Music Academy, Bhopal in 1980.

Priti started her Journey in singing from Mumbai Doordarshan as a child artist and recorded several jingles and religious songs. Priti considers her father as her biggest inspiration, as she would accompany him to the Prithvi Theatre and IPTA programs, where he performed many shows.

Priti completed her Masters in Environmental Science from Rani Durgavati University with distinction, she also achieved a Degree with distinction (Sangeet Visharadh) in Hindustani classical music from Indira Kala Sangeet University, Khairagarh. She won numerous Zonal, State and National level singing competitions, this includes the group song competition at the Annual Inter University program, South Asian Universities Festival (SAUFEST) in Mumbai . The winner of the competition were to perform at SAARC in Colombo.

Singing Career[edit]

Priti also performs in Punjabi, Bengali and Marathi and has won several awards including Jagjit Singh Kala Manch award. Priti has been performing at prestigious concerts and charity events throughout Madhya Pradesh. She joined the musical group Chaurang in Mumbai and performed in various cities across India.

During her short stay in Mumbai, Priti recorded her first playback in the Punjabi film Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris under the musical direction of Shri Jaidev Kumar. Following the success in her early career, Priti received many offers to perform more playbacks, which she was unable to progress as she married and moved to the United Kingdom
