Priya Malik (born 9 January 1989) is an Indian actress, poet, storyteller, and television personality known for her participation in reality shows and contributions to literature and social activism.[1][2][3][4][5]
Early life and education
Born in Dehradun, India, Priya Malik completed her schooling at Carman School and Convent of Jesus & Mary High School in Dehradun. She graduated with an English Honors degree from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. In 2008, she moved to Australia for higher studies at the University of South Australia, where she earned multiple master's degrees in Applied Linguistics, Teaching (Middle and Secondary), and Education.[2][3][4][5]
Career
Before entering the entertainment industry, Malik worked as a teacher in Australia. She gained prominence as a contestant on the Australian reality show Big Brother Season 11 in 2014, where she was evicted as the fourth finalist. Following this, she returned to India and participated in Bigg Boss (Hindi TV series) season 9[6][7][8][9][10]in 2015.
In addition to reality television, Malik has acted in various mediums. She portrayed Keerti Fernandes in the television series Savitri Devi College & Hospital (2017) on Colors TV. She also appeared in the short film Sheer Qorma (2021)[11] as Susan and played Shefali in the Netflix web series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (2022).[12]
As a poet and storyteller,[13] Malik has been featured on platforms such as UnErase Poetry,[14] Spill Poetry,[15][16] Kommune India,[17] and Tape A Tale.[18] Her poetry is widely recognized on YouTube, with performances like Mujhe Pyaar Nahin, Ishq Chahiye,[19] 2019 Mein 1999,[15] Kya Pyar Dosti Hai?,[20] Broken But Beautiful,[21] Ladkiyo Ko Yeh Kyu Nahi Sikhaaya Jaata?,[22] Tum Mumbai Ho,[23] When He Told Me He No Longer Loved Me,[24] and several others.[25][26][27]
