Priyanka Mondal is an Indian model and actress based in Kolkata. She has been featured in various commercials and movies.
Early Life[edit]
Priyanka Mondal was born in Kolkata and spent her childhood in Bagbazar (North Kolkata). Her Father Prasanta Kumar Mondal later moved the family back to their hometown in Krishnanagar, West Bengal. Priyanka completed her graduation in History from the University of Kalyani. Her first introduction to acting happened through theater while she was in college, which encouraged her to foray in modeling and acting.
Modeling Career[edit]
Starting her career as a model, Priyanka has done many advertising campaigns like IPL Commercial (2014), Aashirvaad Atta (2015 & 2020), Big Bazaar (2015), Babool toothpaste (2015), Britannia (2016), Parachute Oil (2016), Honor (2018) and Savlon (2021) among others. She got instant recognition when she worked with Imtiaz Ali in a commercial in 2015. She has also worked with MS Dhoni in a SRMB commercial, directed by Ace Director Arindam Sil.
Films[edit]
Priyanka first came into limelight for her poised act as the daughter-in-law of a middle-class Bengali family in Anindya Chatterjee’s film Projapoti Biskut in 2017.[1][2]. Her second film Aschhe Abar Shabor with seasoned actor Saswata Chatterjee in 2018 was also well appreciated[3][4][5] .
Priyanka acted in a short film called The Hunger Artist opposite Ritwick Chakraborty[6] in 2019. It is based on Franz Kafka’s short story “A Hunger Artist” and Priyanka plays a digital journalist who develops an attraction towards Ritwick Chakraborty’s character in the film[7]. The movie was well appreciated in International Film Festivals.[8][9] After that, Priyanka also featured in Soumyajit Majumdar's film Homecoming, which is about some friends' reunion after long 5 years[10].
Priyanka is also a part of Kamaleshwar Mukhopadhyay’s next film, Anusandhan opposite Saswata Chatterjee. The film was shot in London[11][12][13] and also had actors like Payel Sarkar, Churni Ganguly, Joydip Mukherjee, Priyanka Sarkar and Riddhi Sen. In this film, Priyanka Mondal plays the character of Saswata’s wife [14]. The chemistry between Saswata and Priyanka’s characters[15] plays a key part in revealing the climax of the movie. The shooting of the film is completed and it is expected to release in 2021[15].
Web Series[edit]
Priyanka acted in the Bengali Web Series Paap, Season 1 (2019) and Season 2 (2021) both. Directed by Anupam Hari, this web series started streaming on the popular Bengali OTT platform hoichoi [16] [17]. The series stars Puja Banerjee, Solanki Roy, Saheb Bhattacharya, Priyanka Mondal, Rupsa Dasgupta, Rahul Banerjee, Bhaswar Chattopadhyay, Rajat Ganguly, Indrajit Chakraborty and Ishani Das as lead actors[17][18][19][20][21]. The theme of the series is Durga Puja, which is the most important festival in Bengal[17]
