Pure X (formerly known as Pure Ecstasy) was an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas.[2] Formed as Pure Ecstasy in 2009 by Nate Grace and Austin Youngblood as an "escapism project",[3] the band was known for their "slow motion"[4] wall of sound style of playing.[5] Pure X has released four studio albums, and were most recently signed to Fire Talk Records.[6]
In 2014, the band announced that they would be going on hiatus after being dropped by their label. They returned in 2017 to create their self-titled record, which was released in 2020 amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Pure X has not been active since.[7]
The Fader has described the band as having a cult following.[8]
