Qazim Ademi
Qazim Ademi (1876–1939) was an Albanian folk singer and composer of Albanian polyphonic music.[1]
Ademi was born in 1876 in Matogjin, southern Albania and died there in 1939.[1] Qazim Ademi's songs are considered successors of the demirçe genre of Albanian polyphonic music named after Demir Ago Mystehaku–Vlonjati (c. 1780-1845), another composer from Matogjin.[1] Ademi's unique interpretations led to the creation of a new genre of Albanian polyphonic lament and elegy songs, the qazimademirçe named after him.[1] This genre has been adopted by later well-known singers like Saliko Dalan Salaj and Avdul Ymeri. According to musicologist Bardhosh Gaçe sixty of the songs composed by Ademi are popular even today.[1]
