Nakisha Ileasha Romana Esnard (born March 7, 1987) is a British, singer, songwriter, poet, rapper, film photographer and abstract artist. Her music has many diverse mixed cultural influences with an array of sounds that blend reggae, jazz, soul, funk and hip hop.

Raised in Luton Ennè first began singing at home with her music-oriented family throughout most of her childhood, after leaving school she went on to seek a musical career. In 2018 she was a semi-finalist participating in the Universal Street Games sponsored by TOYOTA, which was a first of it's kind global competition hunting for the world’s best street musicians from all around the world. In 2021 her single for the documentary Something Ain't Right SOMETHING AINT RIGHT – Making a difference in the area of medical information narrated by Kevin Sorbo won multiple awards at film festivals. She went on to finally recording and release her first debut studio album in 2022 with Rooted Records.

Early Life[edit]

Nakisha Esnard was born on March 7, 1987 in Luton. Her mother, Gloria Esnard was born in St. Lucia and was brought to the United Kingdom as a child, her mother taught her to always put God first in her life this set Ennè on the path of searching for righteousness. Her father, Victor '' Jazzbo '' Downes was born in England but is of Barabados descent, himself a well established producer and musician in the Shepards Bush area working alongside the likes of Michael Prophet, featuring on the album Magnet to Steel (1994) relssed byJet Star. Also her father was a group member of reggae band The Amharic and also apart of the group Iration Steppas, which was a dub sound system and production unit composed of Mark Iration and Dennis Rootical. Growing up Ennè formed a love for all things musical, she was classically trained and attended Cardinal Newman Catholic School where she was a member of the track team, she also took violin lessons and was a vital part of the school's gospel choir. Ennè went to music school in Bedford and graduated back in 2006.

2015–2019:Career beginnings[edit]

Defining gigs performing with Earth Wind and Fire, support act for the likes of Lee Scratch Perry and most recently Osibisa at the London Jazz Cafe really helped cement Ennè as a fully fledged artist.

She later went on to tour with Grouch in Dub in India & Australia but later decided to part ways with the group in order to yet again pursue her very own solo career. From early on she pursued to push the boundaries of performing arts and went on to pioneer and create the unique sound clash of opera reggae, two completely different genres that until then had never before been used together. Ennè went on to grow and develop as an artist and continued shaping her stage performance whilst often wielding a ukulele and as she toured in Europe, as a result her reputation slowly began to grow internationally as an independent recording artist.

Aside from the stage her creativity is apparent in other art forms, abstract art, fashion and design and fine film photography. In 2020 she gained some recognition during lockdown for her vintage photography revealing a unseen side of Luton town, which gained coverage on the BBC.Ennè: Singer finds 'different side' to Luton in lockdown Her wacky and wonderful abstract street art has also began to gain some reputation being featured in a number of art galleries in England, St. Albans and Doncaster, Leicester and York. and also internationally in Canada and Germany. In late 2021 she also founded a clothing line named YCLY London which successfully launched in shepards bush market

Faith[edit]

A massive part of Ennè's character can be attributed to her unwavering faith in God, growing up in a religious household she always desired to partake on a spiritually journey finding out the mysteries of life . She is now apart of an online Christian ministry named Lighthouse Leadership where in 2022 she released Beeleaf, a Christian lullaby album for mothers and children alike, there she can often be found giving spiritual teachings and daily devotionals. Although claiming to not be of any denomination she often describes herself as a born again believer, she's been quoted as saying "until I met Christ I never really knew what it truly meant live and have life."
