Quantum Metric is an American SaaS software company that provides a cloud-based service for companies to build, test, and fix digital products. The company is considered a unicorn, and was recognized as the first technology unicorn company of 2021 by Forbes, TechCrunch, and Cheddar.[1][2][3][4]
Background[edit]
Mario Ciabarra founded Quantum Metric in 2015. He created the company after noticing a need for digital customer assistance for direct-to-consumer and B2B companies.[5] It is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with Ciabarra serving as the CEO. The company's software identifies user experience and technical errors on a website and calculates any revenue potentially lost from the errors, through a process the company refers to as continuous product design.[6] Some of its clients include Alaska Airlines, Lululemon Athletica, and Lenovo.[7]
In 2017, the company had raised $1 million in seed funding from Bain Capital.[8] In 2018, it received $25 million from Insight Partners. The deal included Insight receiving a minority stake in Quantum Metric as well as a seat on the company's board of directors.[9]
In 2019, the company launched Activate, a technology to help brands respond to user behavior on their site in real time.[10] In 2020, the company partnered with DISH to analyze their customers' behaviors to gauge their user perspective.[11] That same year, they received $25 million in debt financing from Silicon Valley Bank.[12]
In early 2021, Quantum Metric achieved unicorn status after receiving $200 million in Series B funding.[1][13] Also in 2021, John T. Chambers, former CEO of Cisco, joined the company's board of directors.[14][15] In August, Quantum Metric launched Journeys, a customer journey analytics tool.[16]
