Smartcar is a software company based in Mountain View, California. It allows app developers to communicate with connected cars using an API.

Smartcar was founded in 2015 by Sahas Katta and Sanketh Katta. As of March 2018, Smartcar has raised $12 million in venture capital funding from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and New Enterprise Associates (NEA).[1][2][3][4]

Smartcar's board consists of CEO Sahas Katta, CTO Sanketh Katta, William Krause of Andreessen Horowitz, and Forest Baskett of New Enterprise Associates.[5] Forest Baskett previously was the CTO at Silicon Graphics and William Krause was the previously the CEO at 3Com. [6][7]
