Rae Valentine (Singer and Songwriter)
Rae Valentine is a Bombay-based Singer/Songwriter[1]. Her music has been released on all major streaming platforms such as Spotify, ITunes, etc.
Early life and career
Born in Bombay, Rae started singing at the early age of 3. Rae has always been drawn to Western Music and is inspired by artists like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Julia Michaels. She studied at HR College and obtained a degree in Commerce, but music forever seemed to be her calling. Having started songwriting at the early age of 16, Rae played all over Mumbai, starting mainly at college fests and popular open-air venues.
Her first release was an EDM single titled Black and White (released by Joy Records - a Tel-Aviv based record label) in collaboration with Onomatopoeia, on September 24th, 2016. It was warmly received by the Electronic Dance community with remixes being released by other artists as well.
FAITH
The warm reception of Black and White spurred her on and she quickly turned her eyes to singing professionally; touring Pune, Bangalore, and Delhi and entertaining audiences by the thousand. She was subsequently scouted by 9xMedia who offered her a stupendous launchpad [2] and multiple tours in Pune and Bombay [3]. The partnership fell out in late 2018, undampened she progressed and released 4 singles and a full-length debut album FAITH on August 31st, 2019. FAITH is a concept album highlighting the situations and relationships Rae faced in her life. The order of the songs also follows through a story. It is about an undying hope that one has, no matter what happens in their lives. FAITH expands the Pop, RnB & Dance style of her work featuring lyrical themes of passion, romance, and heartbreak.
The 4 lead singles have been placed with well-known artists like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, John Legend, The Chainsmokers, and Lauv, gathering a fanbase of 41,000 listeners (across all platforms) within 3 months of their release. She now also hosts heart own radio on iHeartRadio [4] making her one of the youngest artists from India to do so.
The album was an instant hit, featuring in Indie Junction[5] and remained for weeks on Spotify's new and popular playlists along with artists such as Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Her second single Friends (also a track on the album FAITH) ended up being charted in the top 200 on iTunes (Apple Music), while her third single "You are the One" charted at number 11 on Spinnin' Records' talent pool[6].
The album also received a feature on Hungama's Artist Aloud Season 2[7] along with Chinmayi Tripathi, Prarthana Choudhary, Jatin Khurana, Stereo Buddha, Lalit Bohra, Arjit Sahai, Gouri Aksha, Tanisha Serrao and Vipul Panchal.
