Rainbow Friends is an episodic psychological survival horror game on Roblox released on July 12th, 2022 made by indie game developer, Fragment Games. The players take the role of students whose were going to go to Odd World but end up in a facility.[1] The players navigate the facility through a third or first person perspective, holding a box to hide and utilizing hiding spots and boxes to hide from the Rainbow Friends.[2]
The first chapter was released on Roblox on July 12th, 2022.

Gameplay[edit]
Rainbow Friends is a game where players have to survive the Rainbow Friends (Blue, Green, Orange, and Purple)[3] and collect items to complete tasks, while utilizing a box to hide from the Rainbow Friends, as well as their wits to outsmart them every way possible.[2] Various clues can be found connecting the facility and the friends themselves to Odd World, as well as its founders and its past as a hit cartoon in 1991.[4]
Plot[edit]
Chapter 1[edit]
The game starts off as 1 to 15 player(s) as students taking a school bus on a field trip to the theme park Odd World. A mysterious figure turns the sign around to a facility where the game takes place, causing the bus to crash and the players rendered unconsious. The players later wake up at a place to be greeted by a mysterious figure, who needs their help as the 24 blocks fell over. As the players complete tasks, the mysterious figure adds more tasks.[5] On their final night, they are invited to a party, only to find out it is a trap to kill them, but escape through the vents. The mysterious figure is revealed to be a Rainbow Friend named Red, who said that "things are about to get a lot crazier".
Reception[edit]
After being released on Roblox, many popular YouTubers such as DanTDM, SSundee, and Preston played the game[6], popularizing the game on YouTube. The game’s popularity skyrocketed, hitting 1.1 billion plays on December 2022[7]. Many people made edited clips of various runs of the games, mostly involving various video memes.[8] There are speculations of a Chapter 2, as well as a fan-made theory that the facility used to be a playplace, as well as the Rainbow Friends used to be humans.[9]
