Rajesh Agrahari

Rajesh Kumar Agrahari is an Indian entrepreneur, industrialist and politician currently affiliated since 2014 with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a former Samajwadi Party leader from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, who was expelled from the party by UP CM Akhilesh Yadav for his anti-party activities.[1][2][3]

Business career

Rajesh Agrahari is Director of Rajesh Masala Private Limited from 13 February 2004 to present, registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs of India (MCA).[4][5] He became Director of the company, Rajesh Milk Private Limited on 26 April 2012.[6]

Politics

Rajesh was affiliated with the Samajwadi Party[7] until his expulsion in July 2014.[8] He is president of the "Amethi Udyog Vypaar Mandal", a traders’ organisation.[9] His wife Chandrama Devi Agrahari has been twice elected to Amethi Nagar Palika. [10] He unsuccessfully contested the 2007 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections from the Amethi constituency of Sultanpur district,[11] gaining 20804 votes for the SP.[12][13]

Rajesh joined the BJP on 28 December 2014 in the presence of Union Minister of State Ram Shankar Katheria and UP-BJP President Laxmikant Bajpai.[14][15]

Controversy and expulsion from party

Agrahari had garlanded BJP leader and present Union Minister of Transport Nitin Gadkari when he was in Amethi district during the Lok Sabha polls.[16] On 6 July 2014, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav expelled Samajwadi Party leader and industrialist Rajesh Agrahari for his anti-party activities from the party for six years.[17]

Responding to the expulsion, Rajesh Masala head said, "SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav is like my father and he had asked me to join politics."[18][19][20][21]
