Career[edit]

Landes began his career in journalism as a reporter for Israeli daily newspaper, Hadashot, and later as a reporter and editor for Haaretz.

In 1993, he joined the founding team of Channel 2, which began broadcasting in November 1993. He served as the company's VP Content and Editor-in-chief, directing special news segments, including the broadcast of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination and the 1996 election, which turned Channel 2 into Israel's leading news station.

In 1997, he was appointed Editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth and was responsible for covering many high-profile and investigation pieces. In 1999, he left Yedioth Ahronoth and founded Tom Communications. In 2001, he returned to Channel 2 as editor of the station's "Friday News".

In 2003, Landes was asked to set up Channel 10's news station, becoming its CEO. In 2005, he left the role to establish his own television production company called Koda Communications, of which Landes serves as creator and executive producer of numerous award-winning television programs and formats.

Since its establishment, Koda has engaged with a wide variety of productions for major broadcasters in Israel and internationally, including the AOL-acquired documentary series Connected[2], a 4-time winner of Israel Film Academy’s top Television prize, winner of Best Docu-Soap Programming at the 2014 RealScreen Awards[3], and sold to 17 production companies worldwide, as well as scripted drama Your Honor[4] (winner of the 2017 Series Mania Grand Prix Award). Developed by CBS Studios and Scripted World, Your Honor sold to Showtime to become the first series in the history of the channel to be acquired without a pilot. Written by Peter Moffat, the series is currently filming in New Orleans and stars Bryan Cranston.

Currently, Landes is Koda's Managing Director, as well as an advisor to several high-tech initiatives and startups, and media consultant to the Israeli Government.

In 2014, Landes was nominated to serve as Chairman of an exclusive government committee (called the Landes Committee[5]) established in order to redefine the structure and future of Israel’s public broadcast services. It’s conclusions, titled “The Landes Report”[6] helped replace the Broadcasting Authority to form the current Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation.[7]
