Rand Simberg

Rand Evan Simberg (born January 28, 1955) is an American aerospace engineer, author, and blogger.
He was born in Flint, Michigan, the son of Alvin Leon, a General Motors executive and Erma Mae, a schoolteacher. He is of Canadian, English, Scottish and Jewish ancestry. He has an older sister, Karen, a violinist with the Dutch symphony orchestra and a younger brother, Geoffrey, a General Motors worker. Since 1995, he has been married to Patricia Watkins. They have no children. They do, however, have a niece and a nephew through Geoffrey. Rand has lived in Redondo Beach, California since the 1980s. He graduated high school in 1973.
In the early 2010s he published a book on space travel called Safe is not an Option.
