Ranjith Mahendra Peiris[edit]
Thelge Ranjith Mahendra Peiris(රන්ජිත් මහේන්ද්ර පීරිස්), popularly as Magic Seeya, is an actor in Sri Lanka cinema, dramatist, singer and a writer. Ranjith Peiris was born on 15 July 1949, in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
Career[edit]
Ranjith first stepped into the world of art from the stage. "Rahasin dev" was Ranjith's first play, directed by Thissa Gunawardana[1]. Then he acted in a number of many populer stage dramas such as Kalinga Obewansha's "Naralowata Wadak", Rathnasiri Fernando's "Bahandagaraya his", Peter Alahakon's "Punchi minissu", Tenison Cooray's "Eya Mala", Kithsiri Hapuarachchi's Dhoni etc.[2] Then he performed a mime show (abhirupana) together with Jayasekara Aponsu and Chandrasiri Kodithuwakku.
Ranjith started his film career in Vasantha Obeysekera's 'Diyamanthi' in 1973.[2]He acted in films such as 'Siuvranga Sena ', 'Avurudu Da', 'Suddha'(children's movie), 'Chandi Siriya', Nevatha Api Hamuvemu'.. etc.[3] He has done many children's tele dramas Magic Seeya Lokke mama, Kathandara Pituwa, Rataratawal Katha ,Loku Aiya are some of them.[4] Ranjith Peiris was the original singer of the famous song Waduwaden Divirakina bohodukin.[5]
