Ranjith Mahendra Peiris
Thelge Ranjith Mahendra Peiris(රන්ජිත් මහේන්ද්ර පීරිස්), popularly known as Magic Seeya, is an actor in Sri Lanka cinema, dramatist, singer and a writer. Ranjith Peiris was born on 15 July 1949, in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
Career
Ranjith first stepped into the world of art from the stage. "Rahasin dev" was Ranjith's first play, directed by Thissa Gunawardana[1]. Then he acted in a number of popular stage dramas such as Kalinga Obewansha's "Naralowata Wadak", Rathnasiri Fernando's "Bahandagaraya", Peter Alahakon's "Punchi minissu", Tenison Cooray's "Eya Mala", Kithsiri Hapuarachchi's Dhoni etc.[2] Then he performed a mime show (abhirupana) together with Jayasekara Aponsu and Chandrasiri Kodithuwakku.
Ranjith started his film career in Vasantha Obeysekera's 'Diyamanthi' in 1973.[2]He acted in films such as 'Siuvranga Sena', 'Avurudu Da', 'Suddha'(children's movie), 'Chandi Siriya', Nevatha Api Hamuvemu'.. etc.[3] He has done many children's tele dramas Magic Seeya Lokke mama, Kathandara Pituwa, Rataratawal Katha ,Loku Aiya are some of them.[4] Ranjith Peiris was the original singer of the famous song Waduwaden Divirakina bohodukin.[5]
