Raphaël Fortin

Raphaël Fortin (born 1980)[1] is leader of the New Democratic Party of Quebec. He was elected at the NDPQ leadership election held on 21 January 2018 defeating former MP Raymond Côté with 62 per cent of the vote to 38 per cent of the vote for his opponent.[1]

Fortin had previously been a candidate for the New Democratic Party in two federal elections running in Verchères—Les Patriotes in 2008 and Pierre-Boucher—Les Patriotes—Verchères in 2015, losing on both occasions.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal and has worked in the hospitality industry.[1]

At the 2019 NPDQ Convention, Raphaël Fortin received 54 per cent in a confidence vote.
