Rare Americans are a Slovak-American Alternative Indie band formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 2018.[1][2] The band currently consists of James Priestner (Vocals, guitar), Lubo Ivan (Guitar), Jan Cajka (Guitar) and Duran Ritz (Drums).[3]

Originally started by James Priestner and Jared Priestner, the band is known for its animated music videos.[4] Their videos have been viewed more than 120 million times on YouTube and gained them over 495,000 subscribers.[5] Their song "Back Up Plan" was used in the 2020 movie Scoob![6] In March, 2021, Rare Americans' album Rare Americans 2 placed on the Top Current Album Sales chart.[7]

Awards

In 2020, Ben Kaplan won Producer of the Year in part for his work on Brittle Bones Nicky in the 2020 Juno Awards[8]
