Austin Spruill (born October 24, 1989), better known by his stage name RayZa, is an American rapper, songwriter and producer, who was born in Queens, New York and raised in Uniondale, New York, and now lives in Bronx, New York where he performs with hip-hop legend Grandmaster Caz and more on the celebrity guided Hush Tour...[1] He was recently made an honorary member of the Legendary Crash Crew by its lead member Reggie Reg after performing at numerous shows and events with him including opening for Rakim and a bunch of other hip-hop legends at Lehman College.[2] Reggie Reg states "We need a real artist that knows the roots of the culture.. and to continue the legacy of real Hip-Hop".[3]
Early life and career
RayZa was born October 24, 1989, in Queens, New York and raised in Uniondale, New York.[4] He made a name for himself through battle rap in his neighborhood becoming known for his sharp lyrics and style, coming in first place when his high school threw a rap competition[4]. In 2007, RayZa started his own record label called EBE Records where he recruited all types of talent from the neighborhood and outside of it working with some of New York's top upcoming artists and producers.[4]. In 2009 he moved to Chicago to work on music with numerous producers and got an apartment on the Southside of Chicago living there for two years calling Chicago his second home outside of New York[4]. He moved to Brooklyn New York in 2011 and released his first single Welcome 2 America featuring Jim Jones which caught the attention of DJ Bobby Trends who ended up playing the song on the radio station hot 97[5]
RayZa has released four mixtapes and worked with artists such as Jim Jones, Grandmaster Caz, and Reggie Reg from the Legendary Crash Crew[6]. Opening up and performing before artists such as Joey Bada$$, Salt-N-Peppa, Melly Mell, Keith Murray, Rakim, Grand Puba, Black Rob and many more[7]. He is currently working on three new EPs, his album, and new mixtape Zero Gravity which he is preparing for release in 2018[8]
