Rayman Redemption is a free-to-play platform game created by Finnish developer Ryemanni for Windows and was released on June 19th, 2020. It's an unofficial remake of the original Rayman video game released on September 1, 1995.

The remake attempts to fix the original game's issues by heavily scaling down the difficulty of the game, which was the original game's biggest criticism, while adding numerous enhancements and exclusive content from specific versions of the game, along with new original content as well. Before its release, the game had a demo release, which was used to receive feedback on improving the game. The game also uses a few assets, concepts and ideas from one of Ryemanni's previous Rayman fangames, Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror.

Gameplay

Rayman Redemption is an enhanced remake of the 1995 video game Rayman, which the player controls as the titular Rayman. The remake features new worlds, levels, minigames, missions and powers.[1][2]

Development

Rayman Redemption was developed by Ryemanni, who decided to recreate the first installment in a slightly more accessible and modernized form. After three years, the remake (referred to by Ryemanni himself as a "reimagination") was announced on June 14, 2020.[2][3] The remake was released on Game Jolt on June 19, 2020.[4]

Reception

Rayman Redemption was ranked 13th among fan games that are better than the originals.[5] The remake was also ranked as 3rd among fan remakes of PlayStation games.[6]
