Martin Rawcliffe otherwise known as Razorrawks is a rapper, songwriter and music producer from Preston, Lancashire.[1] Known for his autobiographical and eclectic approach, his sound has been described as new, fascinating, powerful, aggressive and emotional.[2] Due to his Northern accent and vocal delivery he has drawn comparisons with Sleaford Mods and DR Octagon.[3]
History
Born in Chorley, Lancashire in 1976, he began making music as a teenager. After releasing his 1998 debut E.P United Kingdom as one half of the duo Residential via Preston based independent label Boxer Records, the group split and he took a musical hiatus of several years. Upon his return he began experimenting and combining elements of various genres of music such as indie, rock and alternative.[4]
His debut album entitled Rip Eat Prescription, which charted his journey through mental health issues was released in January 2016 and was met with favourable reviews from various online blogs and magazines, with Louder Than War describing it as a potential candidate for album of the year.[5]
Touring
Known for his engaging live shows and his lyricism, Razorrawks has been performing frequently around the United Kingdom since 2012.[6][7] As well as hosting his own Vocal Harem nights he has supported various artists including KRS-One, Chali-2na, Krafty Kuts, B. Dolan, Mega Ran, Sammus, MC Tunes, DJ Woody, Boca 45, John Power, Aziz Ibrahim, Richie Branson, Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon, Andy Cooper (Ugly Duckling) & DJ Moneyshot.[8][9]
