Rebel FC is a new era of football club launched by popular YouTuber, Calfreezy.[2] The team is made up of other popular YouTubers including SV2, Casey Barker, LDN Movements and Reev HD who consider themselves passionate football fans who, instead of choosing the traditional route to the top in football, are rebelling against the system and taking a chance on a different way in. More recently, Rebel FC has partnered with Under Armour. [3]
History
Rebel FC launched in April 2017 by Callum Airey (known as Calfreezy) in partnership with digital media and social video broadcaster, Brave Bison. Their aim was to create a social media first football club allowing fans globally to connect, consume content and connect with the players.[4]
As of October 2018, the Club has amassed 99,000 YouTube subscribers and over 49,000 on Instagram.
Rio Ferdinand
Upon launch, Rebel FC announced that their first official game fixture against Slash Football would be managed by former Manchester United and England defender, Rio Ferdinand[5]
Under Armour
In January 2018, the club announced a two-year exclusive kit sponsorship and supplier deal with leading sports brand, Under Armour.[6]
The two-year deal sees Rebel FC join the ever-growing Under Armour roster[7], which includes World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, tennis star Andy Murray and professional football teams Southampton and Aston Villa. Rebel FC wears bespoke Under Armour kits for all of their matches.[8]
Wembley Cup
On 25th November 2018, Rebel FC are set to make their debut appearance in front of fans at the Wembley Stadium for EE’s Wembley Cup playing rivals F2 FC, Hashtag United and XOFC.[9]
