Reflective Teens (RT) is a non-profit teen-based creative platform that aims to foster the creativity of teenagers and prepare them for the future through proper utilization of their creative abilities.[1][2]. First established in 2013 for some school students in Bangladesh, this platform has now reached countries worldwide. RT organizes a number of workshops and seminars that foster the creativity of teenagers through enabling exposure, encouragement and nurturing opportunities.[3][4]
Formation
The initial idea of forming Reflective Teens was born in a then middle schooler, Yusuf Munna, who was able to publish his writing through the help of an editor. This process was the result of many rejections[4]. Such encounters with more of Yusuf Munna’s friends who were not successful to pursue or develop their passion originated the core concept of RT[5]
History
In 2013, Yusuf Munna along with some of his friends and with the help of some school teachers set up a web magazine for fellow teenagers. Through word of mouth and social media, many students saturated RT with their creative works from writings to photographs to artwork. With time as Reflective Teens gained popularity, the team realized its similarity to mainstream media and hence introduced a talk show for students called RT Talks. Through the past 8 years, the RT team has worked in a similar way to add and eliminate programs while keeping their core aim the same[6][2].
Programs And Activities
Bridges, Not Borders
Bridges, Not Borders is a 3-week long virtual cultural exchange between young adults from different countries. Each of these programs is exclusive for a handful of people to keep the conversation and friendships intimate and allowing all participants to input opinions and ideas. They represent their countries through creative media like artwork, animation, videography, photographs, music etc. The aim of this program is to promote pluralism and create global citizens to improve relationships across borders[7].
RT Brainery
RT Brainery is a 4-week long skill building program that allows young adults to learn and polish their creative skills like creative writing, painting, origami making, programming and scientific experiments. This program is led by expert instructors in the individual niche. [8][9][3].
RT Creator's Convergence
RT Creator’s Convergence is a program for the teenagers to connect with other creative minds like them and also with successful creative artists like photographers or cartoonists. This is to encourage the youth to follow their passion while educating them about the path these artists took to their success. Participants gain insight into the journey taken by their role models, resolve queries and also meet other like-minded young adults from all over the country[10].
RT Advantage
RT Advantage is a day-long webinar addressing important societal issues as well as taboos with the help of experts in the relevant field. This program involves discussions on topics ranging from menstruation to cybersecurity to mental health. This program spreads knowledge and awareness about current societal issues. It creates a safe space for young adults to clear their doubts about pressing concerns and further helps guardians to understand their children[11].
People
RT had begun with a small group of friends studying in school. Now it is formed of around 50 young adults from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds from all over the world who work hand-in-hand voluntarily to ensure smooth running of the programs[5][6]. They further reach out to different schools and people to support their cause and initiatives.

- Represented at Glocal International Teen Conference in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2017[12][13]
- Represented at Global Partnership Summit in New Delhi, India in 2017[12]
- Represented at Changemaker Exchange in Manila, Philippines in 2018[12]
- Featured in TEDxYouth@CCS[5][14]
Additionally, RT has received considerable media attention in national newspapers and web articles.[2][3][5][4]
