Renovation Resort is a renovation TV show on HGTV Canada. It premiered in spring 2023.[4] It was aired on HGTV USA as Renovation Resort Showdown in summer 2023.[5] The show stars Scott McGillivray, who has bought a lakeside resort, and Bryan Baeumler, who has been enlisted to help renovate the resort, similar to Baeumler's other show Island of Bryan/Renovation Island, where the Baeumlers buy and renovate a beachfront resort. Also similar to McGillivray's other show, Vacation House Rules, where McGillivray renovates vacation cottages into a premium vacation rental.[6]
Format[edit]
The show is a 7-episode competition series, featuring 4 teams of contractor-designer duos advised by McGillivray and Baeumler, who will renovate cabin-by-cabin competing head-to-head.[7] The teams have a budget of $100,000 each for the entire cabin reno.[8] The winning cabin will get the winning team the $100,000 grand prize.[9] It is an hour-long timeslot format.[1]
Production[edit]
The show was filmed over 6 weeks in the summer of 2022, and produced by Corus Studios, who hold the international distribution rights. It was produced as an hour-long timeslot format.[1] It was filmed over the period covered in one episode of Bryan Baeumler's ongoing TV show Island of Bryan, as explained in the episode "The Kids are All Right".[10] Each Renovation Resort episode is filmed over a period of 7 days, as the teams renovate their cabins.[8] The show was filmed in Percy Boom Haven, Percy Boom Resort, Percy Boom, Campbellford, Kawarthas, Ontario, Canada.[11][8]
