The Reyers Tower is the telecommunications tower where all Belgian channels broadcast, such as the RTBF and VRT. Located in Schaerbeek, which is also itself located in the Brussels-Capital Region, the building's namesake is the boulevard it finds itself on. It is not open to the public.
The tower was erected in 1979, it is made up of a 70 meter concrete tower that contains a stairwell and a saucer shaped top with a diameter of 34 m, constructed on the ground and then raised. Roger Bastin was the architect for this project.[2]
The three floors in the saucer part are divided into two parts. One part for the RTBF and the other for the VRT.
The construction of the Reyers Tower was carried out by Vanhout, a subsidiary of the BESIX group.[citation needed]
In popular culture
- The tower made an appearance in Une sirène dans la nuit, released in 1998.
