Richard Dean McCormick is an American politician and physician from the state of Georgia. He is the Republican nominee in the 2022 elections seeking to represent Georgia's 6th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.
Education
McCormick earned a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University.[1] He earned his Doctor of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine[2] and his Master of Business Administration from National University. He served in the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps for over 20 years. He is an emergency physician and works at Gwinnett Medical Center.[3]
Career
With Rob Woodall not running for reelection to the United States House of Representatives for Georgia's 7th congressional district in the 2020 elections, McCormick announced his candidacy. He won the primary election, receiving more than 50% of the vote, avoiding a runoff election.[4] McCormick lost in the general election to Carolyn Bourdeaux.[5]
Following redistricting due to the 2020 US Census, McCormick announced his candidacy in the 2022 elections for Georgia's 6th congressional district.[6] McCormick and Jake Evans advanced to a runoff election.[7]
Personal life
McCormick's wife, Debra, is an oncologist. They have seven children and live in Suwanee, Georgia.[3]
