Rizwan Basit Malik (born March 5, 1986) is a Canadian realtor and television personality best known for his work on HGTV Canada's Hot Market.[1][2][3]
Early life and education[edit]
Malik was born in Lahore, Pakistan and moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1994 with his parents and older sister. Malik earned his real estate license in 2007 from RECO College and completed his Bachelor's Degree of Commerce at Ryerson University in 2010.[4]

In 2007, Malik briefly worked at Re/Max, shortly after in 2008, he joined HomeLife/Realty One,[5] a brokerage in Toronto's Cabbagetown neighbourhood, and made the President's List his first year at only 22 years old.[6] He went on to work in the pre-construction industry at a large downtown Toronto condo developer, launching 14 high-rise developments totaling 2,500-plus units and almost $2 billion in sales.[6] Malik began working as a sales representative at Sotheby's International Realty Canada in 2016.[7] In 2018, he was awarded the title of Vice President of Sales. Malik has set records in Toronto's real estate market, including the penthouse on King Street West.[8][9]

He is cast as one of the hosts on HGTV Canada's Hot Market, where he helped affluent clientele find their dream homes.[10][11][12] Malik's other notable acting roles include guest appearances in the American action thriller drama series Nikita and CBC's Canadian comedy-drama series, Being Erica.[13][14]
Personal life[edit]
Malik has one niece and has two godsons whom he adores. His 6-year-old micro teacup Maltese, Luna Malik, holds a very special place in his heart, receiving lots of attention from being featured on Malik's social media. Malik is an avid horseback rider since he was a teenager. He began horseback riding in Oakville, Ontario and trained as a hunter. Malik currently rides multiple times a week in Kleinburg, Ontario. Malik has been passionate about aviation since he was a child and began training for his pilot's license in 2014. He initially thought of becoming a commercial airline pilot, but ultimately decided against it, opting for a career that allowed him to be more homebound.[15]
