Robert Neustrom (born November 12, 1996) is an American professional baseball Outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball with the University of Iowa.
Career[edit]
Robert Neustrom attended North High School in Sioux City, Iowa and the University of Iowa where he played college baseball.[1][2] As a freshman, Neustrom was a preferred walk-on and started all 52 games and hit .307/.389/.405 with one home runs and 21 runs batted in (RBI).[3] As a sophomore in 2017, Neustrom started 61 games, hitting .310/.358./.486 with nine home runs and 55 RBI. After the season, he played for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the exclusive Cape Cod Collegiate Summer League, where he hit .302 with 5 doubles and 4 homeruns and was named an All-Star.[4]
Considered one of the top outfield prospects for the 2018 Major League Baseball draft,[2][5] the Baltimore Orioles selected Neustrom in the 5th Round, 145th overall selection.[6] After signing, he was assigned to the Aberdeen IronBirds where he posted a .272 batting average with four home runs, 29 RBIs and a .716 OPS in 61 games.[7] In 2019, Neustrom played with the Delmarva Shorebirds and the Frederick Keys, slashing a combined .256/.321/.391 with 7 home runs and 47 RBIs in 82 games.[8]
