The rock reptile is a type of fictional monster in the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game.

Publication history[edit]

The rock reptile first appeared in the original Monster Manual II (1983).[1]

Description[edit]

A rock reptile is a lizard with a lumpy, warty hide and chameleon-like powers that allow it to lie in wait in rocky areas, appearing to be nothing more than a pile of rubble or rocks. A rock reptile favors darkness, but will occasionally venture out in daylight if hungry enough. It can make a rush attack that surprises prey due to its speed.
