Ronja Maltzahn (Bad Pyrmont, December 12, 1993) is a german [1]singer/songwriter and multi-intrumentist.
Early life and career beginnings[edit]
Ronja, named after the Astrid Lindgren´s children´s fantasy character Ronja Robber´s Daughter, started singing since she could walk. When she was about 12, and deeply heartbroken, started writing songs as a replacement for diaries.
First only her voice and self-taught acoustic guitar lines, later moving on to piano compositions.
By the age of 15 she formed her first rock-band called SecondMaySeven, releasing their album "Wishes" in 2011.
Around that same time, her attention was drawn, to the point of a deep love, to the violoncello and with time this became one of her main instruments, either played by herself or as a part of her compositions.
After travelling New Zealand, Australia, USA and India she started her solo project in Münster, next to her studies of music and chemistry. Recurring to a more acoustic folk-pop colouring she started touring Germany with her cellist Felix Albert or Meike Jensen by her side.
After graduating from her Bachelor of arts in 2017 she went on tour with Meike and her cello-guitar-duo "MerroR" all over Ireland.
In late 2017 Ronja moved to Italy for 6 months, learned italian and spanish and started writing songs in new languages.
2018 brought a trip through Argentina to Bolivia where Ronja wrote 25 songs in 25 days, creating several important songs that would end up in her album.
In July she travelled to Sri Lanka, sharing music through Instagram-videos everywhere she went.
Her debut-album "Beautiful Mess" was released in September 2018.
