Introduction[edit]

Rotaract Club of DTU Regency[1] is a student organisation at Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India. It is a self-governing and self-supporting club and based on the University’s community. The Rotaract Club lies in the district 3011 and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Delhi Regency.

History[edit]

The Rotaract Club of DTU Regency started in June 2011. It  was chartered in January 2012 with Rohith Garg as the first president. Since then, it has continuously been working to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace.[2]

Prayas Visits[edit]

The Rotaract Club of DTU has been associated with Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre in Jahangirpuri. It conducts weekly visits are conducted, which involve interactions between club members and the children there. Club members organize drawing, singing and dancing competitions for the children, and teach them about the practical world. Recently, English speaking lessons were also started for the students, to teach them the basics of the English language. Art of Living, in association with Rotaract Club of DTU, conducted a workshop at Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre from 5th to 8th October 2017. The children were taught yoga and meditation to help improve their lifestyle. Further, several important life lessons were imparted to them and were told of ways to better their living conditions.

Blood Donation Camps[edit]

Blood Donation Camp is organised annually by RaCDTU, with the intention of doing some good for people in need. Rotaract Club of DTU successfully organised its Annual Blood Donation Camp on 12th April 2017, in association with Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Rohini, and collected 150 units of blood. Stem cell donation, and thalassemia testing was also organised on the same day.

Diwali Mela[edit]

The Diwali Mela is organised annually by the Rotaract Club of DTU around the time of Diwali. All the collections are donated to charity in order to benefit those in need. The Rotaract club of DTU organised Diwali Mela on Tuesday, 10 October 2017. It had several game stalls for the students to participate in. A rangoli making competition was held for students, followed by lighting of paper lanterns. The collections of Diwali Mela 2016 were donated to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - The UN Refugee Agency. All the proceedings raised by the Mela ‘17 were donated to Oxfam India for flood relief operations in North East India, in the hopes of bringing some Diwali cheer in the lives of those uprooted by the tragedy.

Awareness Campaigns[edit]

Various awareness campaigns are organized by RaCDTU. The Club organized an Anti-Depression Drive in the month of August 2017. This drive included both online and offline awareness, a signature campaign, and an online platform to vent out problems anonymously. A thalassemia awareness campaign was organized by it in September 2017 to shed light on the inheritable disease. Online media, chiefly via Facebook, was used to propagate the campaign.

Rotaract Global Model United Nations (RGMUN)[edit]

Introduction

The second special edition of Rotaract Global Model United Nations will be held in the city of New Delhi, India in the month of April 2018[3]. It is to be organized by the Rotaract Club of DTU Regency.[4]

History

Rotaract Global Model United Nations began in 2013 as an initiative to bring together rotaractors across the globe to address up and coming issues. It transcends from a mere simulation to an actual youth decision-making process. The final reports of the conference reach the desk of the United Nations. Besides the chance to get trained as a young diplomat, Rotaract Global Model United Nations grants the youth the opportunity to explore different cultures. Over the years, RGMUN took place in the following countries:

The special edition of Rotaract Global MUN started in 2016 and was hosted by the Rotaract Club of New York. It hosted Rotaract Global Model United Nations (Special Edition) 2016 at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA.[5] Continuing the legacy, the second Special Edition will be held in New Delhi and will be hosted by the Rotaract Club of Delhi Technological University, from 20 - 22 April 2018.
