Roy Christopher
Roy Christopher is an American writer. He is the author of Dead Precedents: How Hip-Hop Defines the Future[1], which Dan Hancox of The Guardian described as "written with the passion of a zine-publishing fan and the acuity of an academic (he is both)"[2] and was one of Okay Player's 15 best hip-hop books published in 2019[3]. He was also assistant editor of Sound Unbound: Sampling Digital Music and Culture (MIT Press, 2008)[4] and editor of Follow for Now: Interviews with Friends and Heroes (Well-Red Bear, 2007).
He is the editor of the forthcoming collections Boogie Down Predictions: Hip-Hop, Time, and Afrofuturism (Strange Attractor/MIT Press)[5] and Follow for Now, Vol. 2: More Interviews with Friends and Heroes (Punctum Books)[6]
He was recently a Professor of Communication at the Savannah College of Art and Design.[7]
