The Rubio Case refers to the death of the dog Rubio in Germany on August 13, 2019,[1] Rubio the dog was dragged and killed,[2] This incident generated national and international repercussions as a whole,[3] leading the German Congress to pass a law that increased the penalty for cruelty against animals,[4] as well as the Manchinha Case.[5]
Rubio[edit]
Rubio was a dog that everyone wanted.[6] He had lived for five years at the gas station on Rua 58 and Provincial Route 11,[7] in Mar del Tuyú. Officials have embraced it.[8] Rubio always got a pat and tackled each customer as he slaughtered the mob.[9] This continued until the 13th of August.[10]

According to the German police investigating the case, the dog was killed in an inhumane way to treat the animals,[16] and the defendant was arrested for the crime of mistreatment of animals.[17]

The incident generated national and international repercussions,[19] and protesters called for justice and stricter laws against cruelty to animals.[20] The case was associated with the Manchinha case and the Black bitch case because in both cases the animals were found on the street and brutally killed.[21] As a result, a law in Germany was passed in 2019.[22]
Consequences[edit]
Defendant was fined $1 million for the event.[23]
