Personal life[edit]

Davidson was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and attended Maples Collegiate. He has lived in the Garden City area since 1995.[1]

Libertarian Party chair[edit]

The Libertarian Party of Idaho was the most active in its history when Davidson was chair in the early 2000s.[2][3] They fielded candidates for most of Idaho's constitutional offices in 2002,[4] a feat that has not been repeated.[5] Davidson said, "I think term limits and all the other issues that angered people have inspired a lot of people to run."[6]

The party voted to support term limits under him.[7]

Davidson was 24 when he served as chair.[8]

Lobby Idaho[edit]

Davidson was the chair and founder of Liberty Lobby in Idaho.[9] Dealt with 3 initiatives that where pro marijuana in the Wood River Valley towns of Hailey[10], Sun Valley, and Ketchum.[11] They also attempted to recall the mayor of Ketchum.[12][13]

Idahoans for Liberty[edit]

Davidson has been chair of Idahoans for Liberty since the group has been founded in 2007.[14] They are still active today, and focus on educating people about liberty and liberty-minded candidates (no matter what party).

They played a major effort in getting Norm Semanko elected as chair of the Idaho Republican Party ousting the governor's choice, J. Kirk Sullivan.[15][16]

They were heavily involved in getting Ron Paul supporters to run for precinct committeeman to overturn Idaho Republican caucuses, 2012 that went to Mitt Romney to Ron Paul at the Idaho Republican Party State Convention in 2012.[17] Paul disavowed these efforts in a statement.[18] It ultimately failed at the Idaho Republican Party State Convention in 2012.[19][20]

They were also involved in getting several rules and resolutions to the 2018 Winter Meeting of the Idaho GOP, one of which was a resolution honoring the late Jack H. Stuart (which was later revealed to have been authored by Davidson himself) that was passed by the State Central Committee of the Idaho GOP.[21].

Davidson's involvement in Idahoans for Liberty was also tied to passing a resolution at the 2018 Idaho Republican State Convention in which aimed to put party support behind making Idaho municipal elections partisan[22], as well as the subsequent push for the legislative change the following 2019 session of the Idaho Legislature[23].

Madison Project[edit]

Davidson headed Madison Project efforts for Idaho Falls attorney Bryan Smith to win the Republican primary against incumbent Mike Simpson.[24][25]

Bryan Smith lost the election, having received 38.4% of the vote.[26]
