SGFC Athletics Sports Club is a professional Nigerian football club based in Ilorin Nigeria. The club participates in the Nigeria Nationwide League One during the entire season in 2022 the third tier of Nigerian football league. SGFC Athletics boys commonly known as the Eagle won the first Evolution Cup Pre season tournament tagged for the Nationwide League One in Remo Stars Stadium, Ogun state.[1]. The team was originally called the Super Green with a mascot designed to be wooded image of an Eagle when it was founded in 1999 in Maryland, United States.[2] [3]

SGFC Athletics Sports Club transitioned to Lagos in 2019 with growth process to commence football Academy for the development of talented players across the nation. The club's Chairman capacity planning made the club to gain promotion through an expansion slot acquisition to participate in the Nigeria Nationwide League One, that plays in the third tier pyramid of the Nigeria Football League systems.[4]
In 2022, the team participated in a pre-season tournament holding in Remo Stars’ ground at Ikenne, tagged Evolution Cup, with several club's invitations that spanned across the country which featured NLO football teams from different parts of Nigeria to participate and prepare for the commencement of the league 2021/2022 season. The SGFC Athletics lads graciously emerged the Champions of this challenge program during the 2021/2022 season following the league activities.[5]
Affiliated clubs[edit]
SGFC Athletics Sports Club is an affiliate club of 36 Lions Football Club, Lagos which serves as African football mentoring camp for SGFC Athletics Football team with several players playing around the globe.[6] In 2016, SGFC's parent team in USA made his board to announce the beginning of the affiliation and network with the 36 Lions Football Club Lagos as a sister club.[7]
Colors and badge[edit]
The team's colors and circular logo were announced in January 2022 during a board presentation in Lagos to enable SGFC Athletics team geared up for the season, Blue and white will be the SGFC Athletics' primary colors, with three white stripes along the shoulder. The final design incorporates team history through the vintage logo of soaring eagles with a flag of originating club which includes the Maryland state flag.

Training Facilities[edit]
SGFC Athletics Sports Club Ilorin makes use of Kwara State Stadium as training venue and home stadium which is situated in Stadium Road, Ilorin Kwara State capital. The stadium has been used for various national and local football matches with a seating capacity of 26,000.
The multi-use stadium has also been a hub not only for the state football club but also serve as a tournament, league matches and championship ground for Kwara State-based professional football clubs affiliated with Kwara State Football Association in the state. The home ground of SGFC Athletics Sports Club is Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin and plays home league matches out of Ilorin Stadium Complex.
SGFC Athletics conducts additional regular trainings at the KFA Football Academy sport ground located behind the main bowl in Ilorin.[12]
