Biography

Ajiboye Michael Adeyemi^[1] (born 11 November 1990), known professionally as SIJ, is a Nigerian musical artist, singer and songwriter. He is signed to a management deal with BBLACK RECORDZ, a US-based record label founded by a Nigerian businessman Basit Folorunso.

Early Life

SIJ was born in Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos in Nigeria but spent his childhood switching between Lagos and Oyo State. SIJ attended Fiditi Primary School, Fiditi Secondary School, Fiditi Oyo State and Larb College, Idimu Lagos State, where he completed his degree.

Career

Having been born into the entertainment family of Adedamola Ajiboye^[2] (BigAbbass)^[3] SIJ’s love for music and art is natural; he started singing early and professionally in 2010 and has gone on to perform at schools, notably Lautech at Dj Perfecta’s event, and some others. He performed at Ikoyi with the Gbadun squad band of Sinmijay, and backed up Jhybo on one Lagos fiesta stage, among other performances. He was awarded as most promising act at Dj Perfecta’s Lautech Award event in 2011 and trending artiste of the year at the Golden Son Award Agege.

Contract

SIJ has been operating as an upcoming independent artiste under the influence of his family before entering into a contract with Bblack Recordz^[4] in 2019 and continues to be so to the present.

SIJ has worked with top Nigerian producers like Oga Jojo, Pbanksbeat, Schockerbeatz, Tktycoon, Clerkbeat, amongst others, and top artists such as Chinko Ekun (Tiger), Small Doctor, Cynthia Morgan, Jhybo, Jahbless, Famous, Yungeffissy, amongst others.
