SOVNET project management association, russian professional association for specialists and organisations in the project management field, is a public, non-profit, professional, international organization acting according to the Russian legislation and the Association charter. SOVNET aims to develop professional project management in Russia and promote its widespread practical application. The Association unites experience, knowledge and efforts of state and public organizations, private companies, firms, enterprises and individual specialists in the field of project management.

Organisation[edit]

SOVNET was founded in 1990 as a voluntary association of professionals engaged in preparing, implementation and management of projects in different spheres of activity.

Since February 1991, SOVNET has become the national Russian Member Association of the International Project Management Association (IPMA).

Since 1999, SOVNET has been offering in Russia certification of specialists and organizations in the field of project management according to 4-Level-Certification-System of IPMA.

In 2001 SOVNET published the first version of the national standard «National Competence Baseline. National requirements for the competence of project management specialists» based on IPMA Competence Baseline. The most current version 3.1 of this standard was published in 2014.

In 2003 SOVNET organised the IPMA World Congress attended by over 350 delegates from 40 countries[1]

Since 2013 SOVNET holds open Russian annual competition Best Project of the year.
