Sabri Moussa (Arabic:  صبري موسى)[1] (1932 – 18 June 2018) was an Egyptian novelist, journalist, and screenwriter.

He is one of the famous story writers in Egypt. He worked in journalist and graduated from Damiatt schools. His literature works includes travel literature, short fiction, screenplay and novel. He also worked as an art teacher for one year, and then as a journalist in Al-Jomhouria newspaper, as a full-time writer at the "Rose Al-Youssef" Foundation, as a member of its board of directors, then as a member of the Arab Writers Union, and as a rapporteur of the story committee at the Supreme Council of culture. his works have been translated into several languages.[2]

Awards[edit]

  • State encouragement prize in literature in 1974 (Original title: Jaezat al-dawlah altashjee’ah fe al’adab).
  • The Republic prize for sciences and arts of the first class for his works of fiction in 1975.
  • From America "Pegasus" award, a gold medal for literary works written in different languages in 1978. (Original title: jaezat ‘bejasos mn America, wa hea al-medaleah althahabeah le aamal al-adabeah be ghair al-loghah).
  • Order of the Republic for science and Arts in 1992. (Original title: wisam aljmhoriah lilalom wa’alfenon in 1992).
  • Statehood award for Excellence in 1999.
  • State discretionary award in 2003.

Death[edit]

He died on 18 June 2018 at the age of 86.[3][not in citation given]
