Saeed Amal (born July 11 1982) is a computer scientist best known for his work in Artificial Intelligence for the healthcare application, specifically for Precision Medicine for Cardiovascular Disease.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Amal was born in 1982 in Haifa, Israel. His father, Escander Amal, was the deputy mayor of the city Haifa. Amal attended the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology where he was included in the dean's honors list during his B.Sc., and graduated in 2005 with a degree in computer science. He received his M.Sc. in 2009 and his D.Phil. in 2020, both from the University of Haifa in the field of artificial intelligence and natural language processing.[3][4]

Professional career[edit]

Amal was appointed on 2014 as a Vice President for a cardiology startup that developed personal miniature defibrillator for patients that are in risk for sudden cardiac arrest. Amal was the founder and CEO of Carmel Tech, a startup company he established in 2012, that invented smart devices based ordering systems. In 2017, Amal joined General Motors as researcher for the effort of developing the innovative AI based autonomous vehicles. In 2019, Amal joined General Electric for the effort of developing clinical bots based on conversational AI.

Research interests and achievements[edit]

His research interests are the artificial intelligence for medicine applications, including deep learning and machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), image processing, and recommender systems.

Amal was nominated Rising Star researcher by the Chief Editors of the Journal of Frontiers Cardiovascular medicine in recognition of their potential to influence the future directions in their respective fields. based on his research " "Use of Multi-Modal Data and Machine Learning to Improve Cardiovascular Disease Care"..[5]

Amal cotributed significantly using deep learning techniques in improving the ability of diagnosing the underdiagnosed disease Peripheral Artery Disease during his research in the Ross Lab at Stanford University "Performance and usability testing of an automated tool for detection of peripheral artery disease using electronic health records".

Amal developed the innovative AI and NLP based Dialogue system between the driver and the vehicle in 2017 for General Motors.[6][7]

Amal developed the innovative AI and NLP based clinical bot for caregivers in 2019 for General Electric.[8][9][10][11][12]
