Said Surayhi’s book (The Writing outside the brackets) which was issued by the Jazan Literary Club in 1407 AH (1987 AD), records some of his lectures and critical readings. And the book – as its title reflects – is rich with different texts, and leads to the differences that activate distinction; because Al Suraihi believes that the creator's destiny is the continuous opposition to frames and brackets to assure human independence and freedom; to establish a language that does not depend on constants only, but for the sake of sitting a new, overcome outlook. From that point came his vision, which included his sayings in this book, that it was the vision which evaluates the human to face the group, and the creativity of the familiar.
And from Al Suraihi’s re-reading of Arabic culture, comes his book (The Veil of Habit, The Archeology of Generosity from discourse to Experiment) which was issued by the Arabic cultural center, Al-Dar Al-Bayda, Beirut in 1996 AD; in this book he discussed the cultural speech which covers human needs, which appears from experience, and what this speech practices as preventing values and ideals of necessities which assures referring to generosity law. This work from Al-Suraihi was included under the reading of texts in the general cultural comprehensive context, and through its various transformations that reveal the absent and implicit in a cultural fabric speech.
His Literary and Cultural Experience
Surayhi was interested in literary and cultural fields at an early age. He issued (Echoes), a student newspaper for the Department of Arabic Language in 1393 AH. He lectured about free poetry when he was a sophomore year student at university, and he was also a member of its cultural committee. When he was a lecturer, he participated in the Marbad Festival entitled: (Sultan Alharf) in 1987 AD.
Surayhi’s tendency appeared through a new version and a new critical vision of writing. So, his studies during his master’s level adopted (Abi Tammam’s poetry between ancient critic and modern critic vision), and through this study Surayhi started to look to the text in a comprehensive way, so he focused on its language, and his own creation and what characterizes the poetic vision, in addition to embracing the human experience in its broad time. He also revealed his analysis which was based on the text vision in a comprehensive way in a holistic manner while questioning its motion; this was represented in Abi Tammam's departure from the usual and repeated pattern in the linguistic structure. Abi Tammam’s poetic production appears different.
Surayhi participated in festivals and cultural and scientific symposiums including those held in Saudi literary clubs and also those held in Saudi Cultural and Arts Associations. He also participated with work papers and researches in scientific symposiums which were held in a number of European and Arab capitals and cities. Surayhi worked as a member in the Baland Al-Haidari Award which was granted by the Assilah Festival for Arab Creators as a judge.
