Samuel Joseph Robb is an American software engineer, author, and presidential candidate. He is currently running for president in the 2020 Libertarian Party presidential primaries.[1]

Career[edit]

Robb earned a BS in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at Carnegie Mellon University in 1991.[2] Upon graduating college, he spent four years as a US Naval Officer in Southern California until moving back to his home town of Pittsburgh to pursue a career as a software developer for startup companies.[3] In 1998, Robb co-founded Geek Night[4] in Pittsburgh which was a popular tech industry networking event that drew in sponsorship from companies like Google and Sun Microsystems.[5] He is also the author of "My Dad Tweets Me Right" which is a collection of 1,001 dad jokes in 160 characters or less.[6]

Sam Robb is currently a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft[7] and is also a Sunday school teacher at Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania.[8]

2020 presidential campaign[edit]

Robb filed with the FEC in April 2019 to run for the office of President of the United States as a Libertarian in the 2020 election.[9] He supports decreasing the size and scope of the Federal government, eliminating taxes on Americans that do not own businesses and small businesses, and immigration and naturalization reform.[10] He has participated in the November 9, 2019 Olean Libertarian debate,[11] the January 11, 2020 Libertarian Party of New Hampshire debate,[12] and the January 18, 2020 Libertarian Party of Georgia debate.[13] Robb received just over 5% of the vote in the New Hampshire primary and 2.48% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses.[14][15] Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Robb’s campaign shifted focus from more traditional campaigning to online “town halls”.[16]
