Sami Korkiakoski (born September 24, 1978 in Eskilstuna) is a Finnish painter.[1]. Korkiakoski received his MA from the University of Art and Design Helsinki (currently Aalto University School of Arts and Design)[2] in 2007 and a master's degree in fine arts (MA) from the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki[3]. He represents abstract expressionism and mainly paints large-scale works[4]. Korkiakoski's painting method is intuitive[5]. In recent years, he has focused on studying the line and it's rhythm[6]. Korkiakoski's works are in the collections of the following art museums: Jyväskylä Art Museum, Kuopio Art Museum, Salo Art Museum, Sara Hildén Art Museum[7], WAM Turku City Art Museum, and in other public collections e.g. Finnish State Art Collection[8], Viljo Hurme Foundation[9], Lars Swanljung Collection (Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art)[10], Basware Oyj[11] and Åbo Akademi[12]. Korkiakoski has had solo exhibitions all around Finland e.g. Makasiini Contemporary[13], Jyväskylä Art Museum[14], Salo Art Museum and abroad: Peter Makebish Gallery[15] (New York, US) and Lowell Ryan Projects (Los Angeles, US)[16][17]. Korkiakoski has had group exhibitions e.g. TW Fineart (Brisbane, Australia)[18] and GR gallery (New York, US)[19], Reckless Contemporary, (Fort Lauderdale, FL, US). Korkiakoski is also known from live painting performances[20][21]. Korkiakoski has exhibited together with Miles Davis at Viapori Jazz (Helsinki, Finland 2013)[22]. Korkiakoski was one of the selected artist that created the official portrait of the President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö (2017)[23][24][25]
