Samuel Josiah Sigismund Barlatt

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Samuel Josiah Sigismund Barlatt (1867–1940) was a lawyer who was mayor of Freetown between 1918–1920.

Barlett was elected to mayor of Freetown in 1918 during the Spanish flu pandemic and the worker's strikes and trader's riots between 1918 - 1920. He is noted for his hands-on approach as mayor during these tumultuous years in Freetown. A notable conservative Christian and Sierra Leone nationalist, Barlett was an active member of the National Congress of British West Africa and the Fourah Bay College Council.[1]
